Donto Yaki (Donto Fire Ceremony)
Donto Yaki (Donto Fire Ceremony) is held in the beginning of January at Asakusa Jinja (Asakusa Shrine). Prayers will burn their new year ornaments and amulets in a big fire to appreciate Kami (god) of new year. People circle around the fire, beating the ground with a bamboo stick, and shouting "Tondo! Tondo!" Eating Mochi (rice cake) roasted in the fire will bring you good health year-round.
