Issa Matsuri (Issa Festival)

Annual festival held on November 23rd at Enten-ji (Enten Temple), in memory of Issa Kobayashi, Master of Haiku (Japanese poems) in the Edo period. He wrote those poems during his visit at Enten Temple : ("A cicada chirrs at Rokugatsu Village of Enten Temple.") and ("Skinny frog, don't give up! Issa is here!") Here are other attractions of the festival : Issa Gyoretsu (a parade from Tobu Isezaki line, Takenozuka station to Enten Temple), The Award Ceremony of junior Haiku Contest (with more than 200,000 nationwide contestants), and Yasegaeru Ogaeru Sumo (Sumo battle with frog costumes).
